Privately Protected Areas: Missing Pieces of the Global Conservation Puzzle

Protected areas are an essential component of global conservation efforts. Although extensive information is available on the location protected governed by governments, data privately remain elusive at level. These private individuals and groups—ranging from families to religious institutions companies—that meet IUCN's definition a area: clearly defined geographical space, recognised, dedicated managed, through legal or other effective means, achieve long-term nature with associated ecosystem services cultural values .
